The World Youth Orchestra Festival 2010
21 - 26 July, Shaoxing / China
An exceptional showcase
for classical music and youth...
What would music be without the permanent exchanges which model it through countless artistic, social and cultural influences, colliding and evolving together?
Music and youth are symbols of hope and contribute without a doubt to improve understanding, tolerance and joy of life. Playing together brings nations and peoples together, welcome to the 1st World Youth Orchestra Festival!
The 1st World Youth Orchestra Festival, as part of the 6th World Choir Games (around 20,000 participants from about 90 countries), should inspire people to experience, through the power of playing and singing together, the strength of interaction which is able to challenge personality and community equally. The World Youth Orchestra Festival is opened to all youth orchestras from all over the world, no matter which continent they come from or which musical genres are represented in their repertoires or which artistic ambitions they have.
To experience this festival for orchestras from all over the world means to participate, to contribute one’s own performance, to compare with others and to experience the enthusiasm of playing together.
The World Youth Orchestra Festival is a fantastic opportunity to inspire and stimulate creative exchanges among participants. It is an exceptional showcase for the future of classical music and all participating orchestras!
