Organisation
The INTERKULTUR Foundation is a non-profit making society, which has given itself the mission to comprehensively support international cultural exchange, especially that of lay choirs and music bands. At the moment, there are about 1,000 members. Its members are individual people and personalities in public life as well as choirs, orchestras, associations and institutions. In order to realise its statutory aims, INTERKULTUR works together world-wide with governments, ministries, music councils, municipalities, choir and music associations, radio stations as well as TV and press companies.
The organisation was originally set up by its founders in 1988 to help remove the borders between Eastern and Western Europe, has, in the years after the fall of the walls between the two social systems turned into a successful movement within the international choir and music scene. MUSICA MUNDI competitions have become more and more attractive, and, in the true sense of the word, developed into enthusiastic meetings of choirs and orchestras from all over the world.
