1st World Choir Championships / 2nd Asian Choir Games

After 20 years of its existence INTERKULTUR is looking back on an outstanding development and 88 high class events for choirs being hosted all over the world. Proposed and initiated by several choral personalities INTERKULTUR is now coming up with another highlight and presents the WORLD CHOIR CHAMPIONSHIPS, combining a total of three choral events.

INTERKULTUR in collaboration with the Province of Gyeongnam will present the 1st Grand Prix of Choral Music! With this competition an event shall be established where invited top choirs of the world may compare their skills in a contest. It is combined with two other big events: the 2nd Asian Choir Games and the Korean International Open Competition. The 2nd Asian Choir Games will follow the great success of their first edition in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2007. Choirs from Asia- Pacific Region have the chance of presenting themselves in each of the given categories. The Korean International Open Competition is dedicated to all choirs of the world. The best choirs from both competitions will have the opportunity to qualify for the Grand Prix of Choral Music.

In addition to the choir groups the event will also welcome all kinds of instrumental groups and instrumentalists as well as folkdance groups. The involvement of a big range of music making and dancing will make the WCC even more colorful and fantastic.

Province of Gyeongnam

The Gyeongnam Province has numerous places of interest such as the mountains, magnificent islands, two of the largest temples in Korea and several National Parks. But also the vibrant city life is characteristic for the Province. Changwon, being its centre, but also Masan, Jinhae and some other cities are well known beyond Korea because of their attractiveness. Busan, adjacent to the Province, is the second largest city in Korea. The choirs of the world are hereby called up to take part in the WORLD CHOIR CHAMPIONSHIPS in Gyeongnam Province, Korea.
